The programme receives overwhelming response from the schools. Through a series of sharing session by technology heroes, science theme workshops and students’ being the tour guides of “Science Explorer”, the programme helps raise the young generation’s interest in innovation and technology, and to widen their horizon through better understanding of the many fruitful applications resulted from “made in Hong Kong” research and development.

In the July of 2014, I have joined the “Science Elite Young Ambassador Programme”, which is jointly organised by Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation and the Education Bureau. This is a work experience programme of the Business-School Partnership Programme. It offers two sessions: Science Day and practical training of ambassador for Science Park’s guided tour programme “Science Explorer”. On the Science Day, I gained science knowledge by doing different experiments, for example, finding DNA through the mixture of banana and detergent, making wooden plane etc. These lead to my acknowledgement of how the innovative science inventions improve our daily life. Meanwhile, I learnt more about the details of employment of science from the sharing of the members of Incubation Programmes. During the two-day practical training of ambassador for Science Park’s guided tour programme “Science Explorer”, I had been following a tour guide of the programme. I have experienced the daily work of a tour guide and got a taste of leading the tourists to explore the Science Park and introduce different exhibits to them. Gaining the work experience makes my working pathway towards the future clearer with distinct directions.

Work Experience

This work experience was very nice. Passed by a Robot Workshop before the activity with uncertainty. Thankfully, the mentor was very kind and had guided during the two days of activity. For example, during her tour with the participants, she explained in detail different locations as well as how they make the participants feel more engaged by giving them the right amount of information, depending on their age. Also, she gave me a clear introduction of their work and mission, including educating the youngsters about new technologies and allowing them to develop interest in this field. Learnt a lot more about this field and was very grateful to my mentor, who had accompanied during this precious experience.
