The Federation of Hong Kong and Kowloon Labour Unions

The Federation of Hong Kong and Kowloon Labour Unions (HKFLU) was established in November 1984 as a registered society. "Unite the working class, strive for reasonable rights and interests, participate in democratic reform, and promote social prosperity" is the consistent principle of the HKFLU. For decades, the HKFLU is committed to safeguarding the rights and interests of laborers. It has been advocating improvements of labor policies on the Labor Advisory Board of Labour Department and other advisory bodies.

Over the years, the HKFLU has been uniting the working class, speaking up for workers, fighting for more reasonable rights and interests, and improving the quality of life of workers. Keeping pace with the times, the HKFLU provides different kinds of vocational education and training for people from all walks of life, in order to help Hong Kong workers learn or improve their skills more comprehensively and adapt to the job market. Youth is an important stage of life development. Secondary students are at the crossroads of life choices. Some students lack knowledge and experience in various industries, so they feel confused about what they want to do in the future. The HKFLU believes that early implementation of vocational education can enable students to discover their career paths and abilities more easily, so that they can live up to their career aspirations step by step, excel in the workplace. This helps to nurture talents for society too. As a federation of trade unions, the HKFLU has more than 100 trade unions from different industries and types of work, of which there are senior practitioners or trade union officers. They can share historical development and anecdotes of their industries with students, and help them think better about career paths.
