Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants

The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) is the statutory body established by the Professional Accountants Ordinance responsible for the professional training and development of certified public accountants in Hong Kong. The Institute is also a standard setter of the local accounting industry. The Institute has over 47,000 members and over 11,000 registered students.

HKICPA’s qualification programme assures the quality of entry into the profession, and HKICPA promulgates financial reporting, auditing and ethical standards that safeguard Hong Kong's leadership as an international financial centre. The CPA designation is a top qualification recognised globally. The Institute is a member of and actively contributes to the work of the Global Accounting Alliance and International Federation of Accountants.

Through the Business-School Partnership Programme, HKICPA provides diversified career exploration activities such as talks, workplace visits and workshops to students, teachers and parents to clarify the myth that accounting profession is a boring industry that requires frequent overtime work and to be replaced by technology in the future. Instead, they would learn the dynamic and versatile nature of the accounting profession and its key roles in modern business world and society. In the meantime, young people would understand that accounting profession could be compatible with their career aspirations.
